The Krakow Music Center is to be the next one – after the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, the NOSPR in Katowice and the Szczecin Philharmonic – a world-class facility dedicated to music on the map of Poland. The main question is – what character should the building associated with music have, in a city filled with history and culture, which until now had no such object. The answer to this question is, in our opinion, the creation of an object aspiring to become the contemporary icon of the city, and at the same time firmly anchored in its tradition and history. The Krakow Music Center, modern and simple in its form, a smooth form harmonizing with the nearby Vistula River, will at the same time refer to form and matter to the historic character of Krakow. For the most characteristic and inspiring element of the city we recognize churches – for centuries associated with music and “Krakow’s” brick cellars – gathering artists, vibrant, filled with culture, invariably constituting the background for concerts, cabarets and performances.
